In Tamil Nadu, international footwear majors present their finest selves
Tamil Nadu continues to solidify its position as a global hub for footwear manufacturing, attracting international brands and fostering local talent.
Expansion of International Footwear Brands:
- JR One Footwear Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between Phoenix Kothari Footwear Ltd. and Taiwan-based ShoeTown Group, is expanding its operations in Tamil Nadu. The company has committed an investment of approximately ₹5,000 crore to establish a manufacturing facility in Perambalur, dedicated to producing ‘Crocs’ footwear. This facility, located about 250 km south of Chennai, has already generated around 1,700 jobs, both directly and indirectly, in the region.
- Additionally, JR One Footwear plans to set up two more manufacturing units in Tamil Nadu, aiming to introduce two new international footwear brands. The specific locations and brand names are expected to be announced soon.
