Guidelines for Recycled Polyester Are Published by ZDHC

The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation has recently released two pivotal documents aimed at promoting sustainable practices in the recycled polyester industry:

Recycled Polyester Guidelines V1.0: This document establishes requirements across three key areas for recycled polyester manufacturers:

Input Management: Focuses on the feedstock (bottle/textile) and chemicals used in recycled polyester production.

Process Management: Covers best practices, including chemical recovery and safe storage and handling of chemicals to ensure worker safety.

Output Management: Addresses emissions from wastewater, sludge, and air during the production of recycled polyester fiber.

Industry Standard Implementation Approach V1.0: This document provides a framework for implementing the Recycled Polyester Guidelines, offering actionable steps for stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices in their operations.

These publications are part of ZDHC’s ongoing efforts to support the fashion industry in adopting sustainable chemical management practices, particularly in the growing field of recycled polyester production.
